A Sustainable Homestead and Farm Retreat in Vermont’s Beautiful Taconic Mountains

Greetings! Welcome to Harmony Homestead Farm, located in Wells, VT!   We’re now up on facebook and twitter! View new photos, follow us, and become a fan!  We host a friendly, fun farm community including a changing roster of interns and volunteers during the season. We are a 100 acre rustic homestead creating a sustainable organic farm and artist retreat in the hills of Vermont.

As a host for WWOOFers, we welcome a desire to learn, discover and work in support of the vision for Harmony Homestead Farm. Please come with some experience and a balanced ego to not know what you have not yet learned and the ability to learn unencumbered by an expectation to know anything beyond your scope of real experience or a personal agenda that does not match the position. We welcome seekers and good communicators.  Please don’t hesitate to call and ask questions even if you do have experience but question your own qualifications.  Feel free to check us out at wwoofusa.com. Below are two descriptions of 2 intern position available for next season. We will be accepting applications between now and February 2012 for positions to begin in April and May.

Staff/projects manager position: Organize and lead crew daily on a variety of different farm/homestead tasks and chores. Morning staff meetings with farm owner/manager. Goal oriented. Cheerful. Cooperative. Hardworking. Funloving. Call Paul for details. 802-325-2108

Garden manager: Must have some organic growing experience. Work closely with farm owner/manager. Small CSA. In-town market presence 7 days/week plus as many as 2 to 3 local weekly farmers markets. Manage 4 garden plots, all necessary tasks with a staff to help with the labor. Soils, mulching, pest management, harvesting, packaging, irrigation, succession etc. A great opportunity if you are ready to have this kind of position under your belt. Paul 802-325-2108

Harmony Homestead Farm is a homesteading adventure, a farm in the making. 2010 was our first year of full time occupation on the homestead and our first WWOOF experience. It was great. We expanded our family of friends and shared lots of memorable time together. Be sure to check our website and facebook pages of photos and comments. Community is part of why we are here.

Spring brings with it many new faces at Harmony Homestead. As a WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities On Organic Farms, or, as we like to say: Work On Our Farm) partner, we host volunteers from all walks of life, usually two for the maple sugaring season, and up to eight at a time for the summer. Our Picturesque property also attracts many friends and family, as well as short-stay volunteers.

Our farmers, Paul and Gail  have been busy planning for a new CSA, infrastructure projects, and increasing the WWOOF program. We had a very successful year last year, and can’t wait to make this year even better!

For those considering WWOOFing in Vermont, Harmony Homestead can be an ideal fit. As an expanding Homestead, we offer many WWOOFing opportunities in a diverse range of areas. Our WWOOFers find Vermont to be a very special place to spend their time, and Harmony Homestead Farm the perfect place for their experiences, education, and adventures.
